Centaur Chiron: The wound of abandonment is where your talents and energy lie.

Astrology 40

Chiron is associated with feelings of inadequacy, shame, guilt, and rejection. But underneath all these feelings lies the root cause of Chiron’s wound: the wound of abandonment. To understand why Chiron's wounds are rooted in abandonment, let's return to the myth of Chiron.

Saturn, Chiron's father, turned into a horse when he mated with Chiron's mother, Phililia. As a result, Chiron was born a centaur. Disgusted by his appearance, his mother abandoned him.

Chiron: The Wound of Abandonment

This is Chiron’s original wound – the wound of abandonment. This abandonment is metaphorical and represents the experience of rupture, the experience of birth. We are born, therefore we are wounded. The very process of birth is our first experience of abandonment. Rejection is part of our identity development process.

For people with a strong Chiron signature, abandonment can be very literal; they are literally abandoned by one or both parents. Others who have experienced early abandonment, such as children whose parents had to return to work immediately after the birth of their children, or whose parents left their children with caregivers or the school system. Other abandonment experiences may be caused unintentionally by caregivers who do not respond to their child's cries or who do not acknowledge the child when he or she begins to connect.

Even in the most loving families, children will internalize this initial experience of abandonment and think there is something wrong with them, no matter what actually happens.

For the first few years of our lives, we live in a narcissistic state without the cognitive ability to distinguish ourselves from the world. This is why if "bad" happens, it must be our fault. "I have something to do". "My parents don't love me because I'm flawed."

In astrology Chiron is the place where we feel abandoned and rejected.

Chiron: The Gift is in the Wound

Let us return to the myth of Chiron. Chiron was born different: half-god, half-horse. But it's his unique makeup that allows Chiron to grow into a wise, respectful and respected teacher.

His adoptive father Apollo taught Chiron archery, poetry, botany and astrology. These teachings, coupled with Chiron's half-horse nature and instincts, gave Chiron a unique edge and helped him become a respected and respected teacher. He understood both the workings of nature and the divine and became a holistic healer.

Important: If Chiron had not been abandoned at birth, he would not have been adopted by Apollo, nor would he have had the opportunity to bridge the gap from nature to spirit. This initial abandonment, this initial wound, is what makes Chiron so special.

Our Chiron wound is the “original condition” – we all share the wound of abandonment and it is this wound that becomes the catalyst for our growth. If we don’t feel abandoned, we won’t have the motivation to grow.

Of course, there are healthy ways to overcome abandonment and find healing, and there are notVery healthy method.

When we integrate feelings of shame, guilt, and abandonment, we allow them to become catalysts for growth. However, when we overcompensate for them, the gap between our instinctual nature and our divine nature only grows wider.

As we grow up, we try to avoid these feelings of abandonment and rejection. We believe that if we achieve worldly success, we are worthy and we will never be abandoned again.

These people seem very confident and have high self-esteem. However, no matter how effective and successful they are, they still feel empty inside and they lack a real sense of accomplishment. The obsession with worldly success becomes a vicious cycle.

We want more and more because we believe that the more successful we are, the less chance we have of being abandoned. However, worldly success is only half the equation.

There is also the Centaur's other half, the divine side, asking to be integrated. This is why many people who are successful in the material world often feel empty inside and often leave everything behind in search of a higher realm.
