Astrological Elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water

Astrology 87

""If you've ever delved into anything metaphysical or spiritual, you've probably heard the word elemental. It may seem complicated, but the elements are actually the basis of every zodiac sign in astrology.

A large number of different spiritual beliefs stem from the idea that we get all our power or life force from the four elements: fire, earth, wind and water.

Each element has characteristics that make it unique. If you have a lot of one element in your chart, you may find many corresponding traits in your personality.

I think the elements are an important foundation for learning astrology, but no matter where you are in your astrology study, it's important to understand the elements! Truly understanding what makes each element unique will help you understand all the other jargon and difficult language that astrologers love to throw at you.

I tried to break it down and make it as simple as possible. If it's not clear, it often takes hearing the message multiple times to fully integrate it.

The Four Elements of Astrology

There are 12 zodiac signs in total, but they are divided into four different elements. Each element has three zodiac signs that belong to that group.

All signs within an element have certain things in common related to that element.

The four basic elements of astrology are fire, earth, air and water. Here are the twelve zodiac signs belonging to each element:

Fire signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

If you think You don't see the elements of your sun sign for yourself, and that's okay – your chart is a complete collection of many planets and signs, so you're more than just your sun sign. Almost everyone has each element in their natal chart.

Now it is more important to learn the elements themselves so that you can identify them in your chart. We all have most of these, so see if you can identify an area in your life where you might exude these qualities.

Fire

Fire signs are exactly what you might think of when you imagine fire: unpredictable, spontaneous, bold, and passionate. All you need is one game and they're off to another new adventure.

People with fire signs in their charts may not stop to think carefully about many of their decisions. Fire signs, in contrast, react based on intuition or sudden bursts of emotion. They live big and live in the moment, but can sometimes pay for it later.

Emotionally, Fire signs do feel deeply, but they usually think about their own feelings. As they embark on their next adventure, they forget to consider how their flames can burn others and leave lasting emotional reactions.

Usually, fire signs don’t actually care much about other people’s feelings. What matters to them is immediate action and they don't like to waste time on sentimentality.

Fire signs are definitely the best choice to complete the task. These people have a strong sense of self and are rarely afraid of trying new things.

Fire signs are naturally opposite to air signs. This means that in any house position of the natal chart, you can go right through the natal chart and see the opposite of nature requiring all the name brand merchandise and Best quality. They can also refuse to think big.

Earth signs are the natural opposite of water signs.

Earth Signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Air

Air signs are all associated with some form of spiritual energy. These three air signs are very thoughtful and have many ideas. They are scientists, philosophers, conversationalists, and writers.

Emotionally, air signs are known for being aloof. They may also have difficulties in real life and may live in their thoughts or heads.

Air signs are thinkers rather than doers, but they can think through situations better than other signs such as fire signs. If you need someone to devise a concept or figure out the best way to do something, look to an Air sign, but when you need to actually execute it, you'll want to look to Fire or Earth.

Oddly enough, wind is actually one of the more social elements. Most of our communication involves thoughts, which is a rite of passage for any air sign. While air signs may not be the best at feeling emotions, they are smart enough to read other people's emotions and react accordingly.

Air signs are naturally opposite to fire signs.

Air signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Water

Water signs are all about emotions. Unlike air signs, water signs perceive everything through their senses. People with many water signs can be very sensitive; this can be both positive and negative.

Most empaths have a lot of water in their charts, and while it's a good thing that they can empathize well with other people, animals, nature, etc., when they take on other people's Emotions and troubles can also cause pain.

Water signs are generally more susceptible to energy, but are also better at understanding that energy and feeling the emotions of others. A person with a lot of water in his/her chart is usually more of a feeler than a doer.

Most water signs are also associated with spiritism and anything otherworldly or spiritual. Water signs are the natural opposite of earth signs.

Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

A few examples...

To help you really understand what I mean by each interpretation, I've categorized each element here into several archetypes. Keep in mind that not every description will fit everyone as it all depends on the location! Elements appearing in a chart

Also, not all of these descriptions are black and white. I think of earth as a hard worker, but any other element can easily contribute to hard work day in and day out. Earth, in its purest form, is often the hardest worker. In a real chart, each element affects the next, so it's nearly impossible to isolate your own, especially when you're just starting to learn about astrological elements.

Hard Worker: Earth Loving Parent: Water Detective: Fire, Air, Earth Astrology Mobilizer: Fire Artist: Water Storyteller: Wind Entrepreneur: Fire, Earth Engineer: Wind Healer: Water Philanthropist : Air, Earth, Mercury How a Chart Cycles Through the Elements

If you look at a horoscope, you will notice that the signs are always arranged in a specific order. Although they may move across the chart, Taurus is always next to Aries, Gemini next to Taurus, and so on. The actual order never changes.

This is because the zodiac sign is split based on the elements. In the first quarter of the chart, each element has a sign. In the second quarter, each element gets an additional sign, and so on for the rest of the chart.

For example, in the lower left quarter of the chart, you have:

1. Aries 2. Taurus 3. Gemini 4. Cancer

No two elements are ever adjacent to each other, opposite elements always aspect each other. This makes reading astrology charts much easier because you always know what to expect once you see the first sign.

How to Learn Elements

Once you figure out what each of these elements is, you. Being far ahead in any spiritual practice

First, I recommend reading these descriptions a few times and then going through your own chart and looking for each element. See if you can recognize aspects of the elements you own.

For example: I am very popular, I must have many characteristics. Some of my friends have no fire at all and they also lack many of these traits. After you look at your own chart, look at the charts of friends and family members to see if you can recognize any elements in their charts and personalities.

In my opinion, it is much easier to study elements and logos. It makes more sense when you study them together because these elements show why these signs are connected and explain in what ways these signs are similar.
